We’ve
barely put aside the football equipment and the basketballs are bouncing
all over the state. Ah.. the beauty of high school sports. Some quick looks
at early, early season around the STATE.
Boys basketball….
Glendale Falcons (2-0) are scoring at a 75.0 ppg clip during the 1st week
of play!
Hazelwood Central under new coach Josh Martin, despite the departure ofAlex Tyus to Ohio, won the Vianney Tournament over the host school 47-38 for 2nd consecutive year.
Kudos to the Bayless Bronchos (2-1) a team that started 0-10 last year fought past Oakville by a single point, edged Affton by 2 points then fell to DuBourg Cavaliers in South Side Classic championship game 70-54. It’s always good to see a program have a major turn-around.
Alton Redbirds (5-0) are Red hot ! They’ve won all five opening games at home to start the season in an impressive way!
KC Central (3-1) led by Soph, Travis Releford look to reemerge as a MO power. He’s already being coveted by KU!
Collinsville Kahoks(4-0) seem to like the more up tempo beat being employed this year.
6-7, 3 point shooting guard, Eric McCrary led the Lancers of Belleville East to the championship of Pattonville Tournament over CBC Cadets. He was draining 3 after 3!

Ozark (4-0) has won their own tournament and were very impressive in the
Chevy Shootout. They working for a repeat a trip to Columbia.
Althoff Crusadors (6-0) are dropping the points in a a rate of 68.5ppg! Theresa Lisch leads the way as she continues the family tradition of leading the Crusadors!
St Joseph Academy has the full service of Kelsey Luna and Mackenzie Stirmlinger again. This dynamic duo has the Angels flying up and down the court during their early games.
Marquette Mustangs (3-0) won their own tournament as Calley Bilgram and Alli Arbogast were the 1-2 offensive punch for Coach Scott Clear’s team.
Northwest-House Springs has silently gone 4-0 by using a stingy defense that is surrendering only 31 ppg. Obviously, Coach Bill Linn has worked his girls in that area!
Skyline Tigers of Mid Lakes Conference have hopes of seeing 6-0 Maci Wood dunk soon in a game. She is coming very close in practice according to sources!
