The final week of District football was generally played
on Halloween. It brought us many "tricks and treats" that we
didn't expect to find.
How about this trick?
Marquette(4-6) , Class 6-District 3, was 1-1 after the first two
weeks. Parkway South and CBC were scheming, calculating what
they would need when Marquette dropped their last game. Their
final game was against highly favored Lafayette Lancers (8-2).
Rumbling for over 400 total yards of offense and having star
running back, Matt Warrick score 4 times was the difference as
the Mustangs shocked Lafayette 34-30 to finish 2-1 in district.
Since they tied with Lafayette, the head-head tie-breaker gives
the Mustangs their 1st District Crown in football!!
What about this trickster?
Going into District at 0-7, the Oakville Tigers were not given
much of a chance despite losing 4 games by 6 or less points.
When the Tigers beat Northwest (2-8) and Seckman (0-10), few
eyebrows were raised. On Halloween, the Tigers shocked the Fox
Warriors 29-26. QB Joe Plassmeyers's winning TD pass to Lavelle
Boyd in the final few seconds of the game left this crowd with
no joke to tell!
Time for a treat!
How would you like to have seen the Ste. Genevieve(9-1) game.
Ste. Genevieve outscored Fredericktown (8-2) 70-46 ! Kory
Faulkner was 45 of 51 for 412 yards and 6 TD passes. WOW...now
that's a treat for most fans!
Running all over the neighborhood!
Brad Allen (Jefferson City) only carried it 9 times but piled up
401 yards and 5 TD scores in the Jays romp over Hickman 59-14!
These trick-treaters came home early!
Interestingly enough, the class 6 game between SLUH-Fox brings
two teams that both lost last week! Fox fell to Oakville (see
above) while the Jr Bills, who had clinched the district title
after 2 weeks, were bounced by Lindbergh (7-3) 20-17. Fox saw a
loaded "box" defensively last week so they should expect more of
the same "treat". SLUH always seems to have a tight game with
the Flyers who were able to pass the ball around the field.
No empty bag for these teams!
Hazelwood Central (8-2) and McCluer North (5-5) each had to win
last weekend to find themselves invited to the dance. Each team
moves on now after victories, will the pressure of last
weekend's games take some of the extra pressure from the
sectional round games? Each of these programs have been "there"
many times previously. In case you're wondering--a game between
these two teams? Central won by a single point!
Quiet (as always) costumes!
Very stealth-like, the Eureka Wildcats go 9-1 for the 2nd
consecutive year and no one hears anything about them? The only
loss was an OT loss to Parkway West ! Why is this..your thoughts

This road is
rocky to walk...
The Union
Wildcats (10-0) have been in the running clock 8 of their 10
victories but no one seems to notice. Union will have
to work its way through the Western side of the class 4
brackets-- a tough road to hoe. A first round game against
Williard (3-7) will probably be followed by Bolivar (9-1).
The winner of that game will no doubt draw the Webb City
Cardinals (10-0).
Unblemished
treats..
Other unbeaten
Class 4 teams...MICDS (9-0), Smith-Cotton and Kearney are
10-0. MICDS has the toughest first round draw as they tangle
with Normandy (9-1). Some other 9-1 teams areSt. Charles
West and Helias in this tough Class 4 brackets. Who do you
like in class 4..let me know at

Special treat
in a small package!
The quarterfinal
round of Class 1 should see two unbeaten teams face each
other. Orrick (10-0) vs Penny (9-0) should really be a
dandy treat. The only other unbeaten class 1 team is the
Tipton Cardinals. Your class 1 choice....email

First bite is
the best (according to some)...
IN the
heavyweights (class 6), the best first round matchup pits
the Rockhurst Hawklets (9-1) the defending state champion
against the Blue Springs Wildcats (9-1). Some say this is
the STATE title game??! Your thoughts...email

More treats
than you can eat in one night....
So..... Prepcasts
has two nights of football for you this week. Wednesday
(classes 1-5), Prepcasts will cover the McCluer-Timberland,
Maplewood-Brentwood, Jackson-Chaminade, and MICDS-Normandy.
On Friday, DeSmet-Ft Zumwalt West (game to be played at CBC),
Mehlville at Oakville, Fox versus SLUH and Hazelwood Central
traveling to Marquette.
Something wet
?
Well you can't
drink it but... Prepcasts will have the Metro Catholic
Conference Swimming Championship on Friday at 4:00pm.
More crowns?
The SLIAC
Volleyball championship will be aired at 7:00pm on Saturday
while the Midwest Field Hockey Title can be heard at 1:00pm.
All are on
www.prepcasts.com ! Hope you enjoy this great week
of action!!
