Some RED HOT
teams who are on great "runs" in early May.

is 2-0 with 3 saves as a pitcher. The Colts were just seeded #1
in their district.
....Ladue Rams
(19-3) from Suburban East have won 12 straight games. Logan Uxa

Hammerman is 5-1 with a sizzling 2.07 era on the mound.
...Santa Fe Chiefs
(16-0) look to be headed back to Springfield to defend their
class 1 crown. Santa Fe clipped the #8 ranked team Sturgeon(8-3)
by 8-4 score this week.
....So. Boone
(13-4) rallied for 3 runs in bottom of 7th to upend Fulton 4-3
in semifinals of Fulton Tournament play this week.
...Festus
(14-2)- the quiet one from Jefferson County, has won 7 straight
including a 6-1 win over Hillsboro. Festus pitching has
surrendered only 3 runs in last 4 games ! Aaron May (5-1)
and David Horridge (4-0) are the 1-2 pitching punch.
...Owensville
Duthchmen (15-4) are riding a 9 game victory string. Ryan
Cooper is banging the ball around at a .620 average, has 7 HR
with a slugging mark of 1.211.
This time of year, a week or two out from
districts, some ranked teams get upset or stumble as they look
forward to district play. In many cases, these are
non-conference games so the intensity may not be there. For
example..
...the Oakville Tigers (19-3) dropped two
games this week! However, it has to be noted that both games
were against top-flight opponents -- Marquette (15-3) & Howell
North (1-7)
...state ranked, Springfield Fighting
Irish (12-6)were upset by Hollister (6-7) by a 5-3 score.
Hollister pounded out 12 hits against Joel Harrington (College
of Ozarks signee).
TOUGHEST LOSS
OF THE WEEK...
Advance(5-7)
gave up all three unearned runs and lost 3-2 to Charleston.
Advance pitching permitted only 4 hits in the tough-luck
loss.
Many great pitching GOOSE-EGG games
this week...
...Lutheran South Lancers shut down
the Westminster bats to win a 3-1 victory. Mike Krumm hurled
the complete game win.
...Dakotah Smith hurled Neosho to a
1-0 win over the Webb City Cardinals(11-5). It was the first
victory for Neosho over the Cardinals in six years.
....Cody Kennedy of Meadow Hts(5-5)
twirled a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts over Delta in a 13-3
win. Kennedy is no stranger to low hit games this year. He
has thrown two 1-hitters and a no-hitter! He has given up 4
hits in his last 4 games ! Kennedy has all 5 Meadow Hts wins
in 2009.
...Garrett Fritsche led Saxony
Lutheran (14-3) to a 6-1 win over Oak Ridge(7-6).
Fritsche (6-0) hurled a 3 hitter with 9 K's.
...Bloomfield (4-9) outpitched
Woodland(3-10) in a 1-0 thriller. Each team had only 3 hits.
Bloomfield's winning run was an unearned run to hand Neil
Johnson(12 strikeouts) the loss.
NEW walk-off victory avenues.....
...a wild game came to a screeching halt
as the Hickman Kewpies (6-8) were the beneficiaries of two
consecutive walks- the last one forcing in the winning run
in the 7th inning of an 8-7 win over Jefferson City (8-12).
Yes...it was a walkoff run in the truest sense of the word.
...Westran's winning tally scored with
the bases loaded in the 7th inning and Bryce Enyard was hit
by the pitch. Yes..it was another way to have a walkoff
victory.
The Sweet taste ....
Seeded #2 in district ,and playing the #1
seed, two weeks prior to district was all it was needed for
the Helias Crusadors(12-6)
The Bruins used the vote as motivation to
topple the #1 seed- Rock Bridge Bruins(11-10) 13-3. Of
course we aren't aware if managers used their ace starter,
all of their regulars, etc.
Rally time...
...McDonald County Mustangs trailed 3-0
after 3 innings to the Carthage Tigers. Carthage had already
beaten the Mustangs once this year. Amidst many wild
pitches, passed balls, errors (game played shortly
after all the rainy days), McDonald County pushed across 4
runs to win 4-3 in the last 4 innings. The winning run
scored on a wild pitch. Carthage threatened in the 7th but
stranded the winning run in scoring position.
