One city jumps for joy as both high school teams close in on district titles, several titles will be at stake this week……
…Blue Springs proudly boosts of both high school teams as both advanced closer to their respective district titles with wins on Friday. Blue Springs Wildcats knocked off the #1 ranked, class 6 school—Rock Bridge Bruins 19-14 while Blue Springs South coasted to 53-0 romp over the Joplin Eagles (7-2). The “family” rivalry would be decided in quarterfinal action.
Another team fell from the elite ranks of the unbeaten as the Pleasant Hill Roosters handled Oak Grove Panthers 25-7. The Roosters’ balanced attack(202 yds rushing, 197passing)was key.
…Westminster Christian anxiously looks forward to their 1st district football title after surging from a 14-0 deficit to beat the John Burroughs Bombers 17-13 with 17 unanswered 2nd half points. WCA shoved MICDS aside in the opening week of district to shock most observers.
…El Dorando Springs Bulldogs (6-3), Anthony Cauphan, kicked a 26 yard FG through the uprights to give the Bulldogs an exciting 23-20 win over the Butler Bears. El Dorado will face the Lamar Tigers for the District crown this week.
….How about Class 5, District 4—ALL 4 teams are knotted at 1-1 after 2 weeks of play !
Camdenton, Waynesville, Washington and Rolla. Clearly two teams will be 2-1 after next week the tie breaking system will take effect. The huge Rolla 12-9 OT win over Camdenton threw this district into a topsy-turvy ! Watch these games closely next week !
…Getting hot at the right time...no, not just the Cardinals—how about the Wm Chrisman Bears? Now 3-6, with 3 straight wins under their belt, after scoring 14 4th quarter points to edge the Truman Patriots 20-14. Or the St Charles Pirates(3-6) ? These Pirates are the only unbeaten team in their district as they prepare to square off with intra-district foe the West Warriors.
…Ft Osage Indians tasted the sweet taste of a district title drink as they romped past ST Joe-Central 35-19. It’s the 1st district football championship in 11 years for the Indians.
…4’s are WILD ! Blair Oaks Falcons (8-1) rejoiced as running back ,Derrek Verslues, who had missed the last 4 games, returned for 4 TD, 241 yards in class two District 4 action.
