…several teams tumbled from the unbeaten ranks this week. All of these losing teams were unblemished when the game began: Class 3 – St Pius X 17 Platte County 14;
Class 2-Blair Oaks 28 Centralia 6 (two fabulous goal line stands by the Falcons make the score seem wider than the competition); Clark County 26 Brookfield 0 (Clark County avenged a mid season loss to the Bulldogs with this win); Class 1— Gallatin 41 Rock Port 6 (this game featured two unbeaten teams !)
…2-4 in midseason—are you looking ahead to next year ? Not the St Vincent Indians who have now won 5 straight after rolling past rival, Valle Catholic of St Genevieve 17-7. The Indians have the defending STATE champions, 11-0, Marionville Comets up next!
…did they switch uniforms ? Last year, the Moberly Spartans stifled a strong comeback by the Lutheran North Crusadors to win the sectional round game. This year the Crusadors returned the favor as they won 28-19 holding off the Spartans frantic comeback . North’s powerful run game pounded out 339 yards and overcame 5 fumbles (losing two) as they advance to the quarters.
…a 96 yard INT TD, a TD on a fumble recovery on a kickoff, a solid running game and a stout defense were the ingredients for the Nixa Eagles as they shellacked Union Wildcats 54-14. Another slow starting team this year(1-3), the Eagles fly next to Webb City.
..how about 41 points in the 1st quarter ? Parkway North Vikings (11-0) held a 21-20 lead over the Jennings Warriors after the 1st quarter. The scoring slowed some…not too much however…as the Vikings broke a school record for most wins in a season by capturing a 36-32 win. Mike Bunton scored 4 TD’s in this outstanding game.
