5 Turnovers doesn’t stop one team, falling behind 13-0 doesn’t phase another team, having All-State running back on bench due to injury for parts of game-no problem…...

#1 Webb City Cardinals (13-0) overcame 5 turnovers against #2 Lee Summit West Titans to win 10-7 in the Class 4 semi. The defenses of both of these talented teams dominated this contest as each offense really struggled. The Titans scored on the last play of the game so the game wasn’t quite as close as appears at first blush. Cardinals will engage the Hannibal Pirates (11-2) who also won a defensive tussle, 6-0, over the Farmington Knights.

Marionville Comets (13-0) have their All-State Running back, Lee Flood, nursing a banged-up shoulder these days. The Comets used Flood to power the ball over the goal line for 4 TD’s but unveiled Soph QB Brandon Verflurth’s versatility as he piled up 220 yards in the Comet Class 1 semi victory over the Lone Jack Mules 25-12. The Comets will now face the option oriented S.Shelby(12-1) team for the Championship. Flood needs just 39 yards to eclipse his own record in the STATE for most rushing yards in a season.

Mehlville Panthers jumped on the CBC Cadets quickly as they raced to a 13-0 lead in the 1st quarter. CBC (12-1) used the balance of QB David Kannappel’s arm and Rayon Simmons rushing to come back strong and win the Class 6 semi, 38-28. Waiting for the Cadets is the #4 ranked team in the nation- Blue Springs South (13-0). The Jaguars rumbled over the Jefferson City Jays with ease and precision as the coasted 42-7 in a game that was over by half.

Is 3 a charm ? Ray-Pec Panthers(9-3) are on the prowl for a third consecutive State Championship Trophy in Class 5 as their sharp running game led by Derrick Washington’s 328 yards, 4 TD’s proved to be too much for Park Hill. The Panthers won 38-20 in a game that showed more points than most observers expected. The stingy, nasty, extremely fast defense of the Kirkwood Pioneers awaits the Panthers (10-0). Kirkwood upended perennially tough, McCluer North Stars 28-7. Kirkwood, surprisingly, will be enjoying their 1st trip to the STATE finals. The long time Thanksgiving Day game against Webster Groves took precedent for some years but now the Pioneers will play on Saturday, not Thursday !

Harrisonville Wildcats (13-0) follow a familiar path to them in Class 3 (4 straight years to the DOME) after a thrilling OT victory over St PiusX (12-1) 28-21. A high alley-oop pass in deep part of end zone was hauled in by Donnie MacLeod from QB Sean Ransburg in the OT for the winner. This game had the ebb and flow of two championship teams in the best game of the day. Waiting on deck is a team that has come from no-where ! The Cinderella darling, the Owensville Dutchmen (8-5) continue to improve each week. The Dutchmen were just 2-5 when the curtain went up for District competition but handled Ste Genevieve 40-6 in the semifinals

Two 12-1 teams—Blair Oaks Falcons and Hogan Prep will be the Class 2 constestants. Hogan Prep stunned observers by edging #1 ranked Mt Grove 16-7 in the semis. Blair Oaks shut down the Herman Bobcats ground game and won 35-25 to again earn a ticket to the DOME.
