District Baseball excitement—full of surprises, upsets, thrills…take a look..

Several teams put the district plaque it their trophy case for the 1st time!
…Westminster(18-5), after several attempts in title games, out pitched the Priory Rebels 4-1 Freshman Jacob Turner shut the door in his usual fashion from the mound..
...Orchard Farm Eagles(11-10) had the sweet taste of revenge this week. Knocking off the Valley Park Hawks (after losing 15-3 in early season) in semis, then whipping Whitfield 11-1 after losing 10 days ago 13-6. The Eagles won the schools 6th district title!
…Saxony Lutheran(13-6) stomped through their district by outscoring their foes 36-6! Caledonia suffered a 13-3 defeat in the championship tilt to the Crusaders who only opened their doors in 02-03.

Not true to form-- #1 seeds fall
...#5 seed, Hickman Kewpies(13-10) won their 2nd consecutive crown as they crunched the Helias Crusaders (15-8) 10-2. Earlier in the week, the Kewpies whipped #5 Smith –Cotton 5-4 and the #1 seed, Jefferson City Jays 9-7.
…Joplin Eagles rode the strong arm of Brenden Hoag who twirled a 1 hitter, striking out 8 batters as the #1 seeded, Kickapoo Chiefs fell 5-1 to the Eagles. Joplin avenged an early season, heartbreaking 6-5 defeat to the Chiefs.
…#3 seed, Parkway Central Colts (14-11) smashed out 16 hits to defeat the CBC Cadets (#1 seed) 10-7. It was the 1st district crown in 10 years for the Colts.
…upsetting state ranked Borgia Knights (19-6), the Mexico Bulldogs (18-7) used their ace, Kyle Louder to trump the talented Knights. Louder tied the school record for most wins as a pitcher as he is now 7-2 from the mound.

EXTRA THRILLS—EXTRA INNINGS!
… Valley Catholic Warriors scored 7 runs in the 8th inning to defeat the determined Kelly Hawks 15-8. Kelly kept coming back throughout the game. Down 2-0, 5-3, 8-3, 8-4 and 8-6, the Hawks tied it in the 7th, but, Valley erupted in the 8th to win the championship
…N.Franklin Bulldogs (16-5) fell behind 8-1 after 5 innings but rallied to avenge last year’s loss to the Harrisburg Bulldogs (11-7-1) 9-8 in 8 innings.

Some familiar faces, some expected visitors to championship trophy room!
..Oran Eagles (23-4) won their 9th district title in 13 years by edging Advance 3-1. Last year, Advance walked home with the crown by squeaking by Oran 2-1!
…the Howell Vikings (20-8) pounded out 18 hits on way to an easy 17-3 victory over the Eureka Wildcats. This game was far different from the 05 game, won by Eureka 17-16!
…Kennett Indians (19-5) won their 1st crown since ‘97 as they tumbled the Cape-Notre Dame (18-7) team 9-6. This #1 seed used superior pitching to walk into the victory circle.
…Hazelwood Central (22-4) saw Josh Malin spin a 2 hitter as the Hawks whipped the McCluer North Stars 6-1.
…Silex Owls crunched the Laddonia team 11-1. The Owls last won in ‘04
